Brewer's Paradise - Battle for Zendikar Standard [Edward Eng]
I mentioned in my latest MTG financial article that I already have some ideas for the new Standard. So I'd like to share them with you now.
To follow up on the point about the new lands allowing for awesome manabases, the first deck that came to mind was Rhino Cruise. Abzan will be able to pretty easily access a fourth color thanks to fetches and the new lands. So why not add something powerful like Treasure Cruise? I've been playing Abzan Aggro for quite a while now, and I noticed that sometimes it runs out of gas against decks that have tons of removal. I think Treasure Cruise could be a pretty great card to help the deck refuel when it gets a bit low on resources.
Here's an initial build that I've jotted down.
Standard
Rhino Cruise - Edward Eng
Creatures (20) Spells (14) |
Lands (26)
3 Caves of Koilos 3 Forest 3 Llanowar Wastes 2 Plains 4 Sandsteppe Citadel 3 Jungle Hollow 2 Scoured Barrens 4 Windswept Heath 2 Prairie Stream Sideboard |
It's possible that this isn't the right way to go with the deck. And maybe Treasure Cruise fits better in something like Red Aggro. And on the contrary to what some people have already said about Red getting worse, I think it actually gets better. Yes, Red loses things like Eidolon of the Great Revel, Lightning Strike, and Stoke the Flames. But you also have to keep in mind that the format loses Drown in Sorrow and Bile Blight.
So something like this might be quite powerful right out of the gates.
Standard
Temur Cruise - Edward Eng
Creatures (14) Spells (24) |
Lands (22) Sideboard |
What you think about these brews? What brews do you have?
Peace, love, and have fun…
