Financial Quick Picks - MTG Hit List [Edward Eng]

I'll be honest; there's not a whole lot going on at this time. It's probably cuz we're nearing the end of the year. But that doesn't mean everything is dead. In fact, we should take advantage of the market lull to prepare for Oath of the Gatewatch's release in January 2016.

What does that mean? It probably means more big stuff to pair with Battle for Zendikar. Ramp strategies have already started to pick up and don't expect it to slow down any time soon.

Whether they're real or not, Kozilek and the two land spoilers are signs that we could potentially see some huge game changers.

Regardless, these are the two cards I think you should be picking up now until the release of OGW.

Sanctum of Ugin

As mentioned, ramp is ramping up. I'm sure we'll see more cool colorless creatures and non-creature spells in OGW. And again, don't forget the two rules that apply to this card.

1. It gets better over time as more cards are released.

2. Invest in colorless cards and lands.

Non-foil versions are still about 50 cents. However, I think the play here is to pick up foils. They're still around 3 dollars. That's cheap!

The second card is similar to Sanctum.

Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger

Hm...ramp is ramping up? More colorless stuff in OGW? Invest in colorless cards and lands rule? Ding! Pick them up now. They're only about 15 bucks each.

Lastly, I'd like to quickly suggest picking up all cheap Legacy staples with cash and in trades if you can afford it. People are panic-dumping their Legacy cards in fear that the format will die owing to the recent SCG announcement.

I'll post another article shortly about Legacy and why it's a great time to get in rather than flee from the format.

Peace, love, and have fun…
Eddie
